I have a lot of new plants this spring, from various swaps, nurseries, and online orders. And there's more to come! But I might be a little off my rocker: I bought a small 'Daruma' wasabi offset from eBay. I didn't want to risk ordering a processed or possibly frozen rhizome from restaurant suppliers. I have a lead on cheap bulk wasabi offsets, too, from a farmer in the Pacific northwest. I might order a few--just because it's good to have backups and test different environments. It seems like wasabi should be pretty darn amenable to indoor growth under lights--it likes to grow in cool, shaded areas. Living in a basement, that's about all I have!
